I had a procedure done on my face a little over a month ago and I freakin’ loved it. It is called, “Micro-Needling.” For those of you that have no idea what in the heck I am talking about, Micro-Needling basically removes the top layer of your skin. The procedure helps remove dead skin, shrink your pores and stimulate blood flow. It really creates a clean, new canvas for your face.
The scientific way to describe it is: “ a dermaroller procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin. The purpose of treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, more toned skin. Micro-needling is mostly used on the face and may treat various scars, wrinkles, and large pores.” via heathline.com
I had my procedure done by an amazing Physician’s Assistant in Newtown, Pa. Her name is Kaitlyn and she’s SO smart. She is extremely open and honest about the procedure and every other skin procedure there is out there. I asked her tons of questions from inquiring about Botox to chemical peels. She is an open book. We chatted for about an hour before I even had the Micro-Needling done. The procedure only takes about 15 minutes!
When I first got to the office at Buck’s County Plastic Surgery (which is extremely clean and high-end but in a comforting sort of way), she brought me to her procedure room and put a numbing cream all over my face. This was the longest part of the process because you need your entire face to be numb so that the needles don’t bother you or hurt. Once your face is completely numb she can go to town and remove that dead skin from your face. She does this all while infusing your pores with hydrating serum to help your skin glow.
After the procedure was over Kaitlyn took a picture of my face because she said that I looked exactly how I was supposed to after Micro- Needling. YOU GUYS…. My face was COVERED in blood. I was so scared, haha. The blood on my face proves that the right layer of skin was removed to help my under-lying healthy skin come to the surface. If you have ever seen Kim Kardashian’s “Vampire Facial Selfie,” that is exactly how I looked.
The recovery process took about two days. I was extremely red and blotchy that first day and was told not to touch my face or put on makeup. The next day I avoided makeup again just to let my skin heal. I finally put on makeup the third day and I WAS GLOWING. NO LIE.
Kaitlyn told me that I should have three procedures to see the best results. I will most likely go back in the next couple of months for my second procedure. It is a bit costly but I think your skin is worth investing in.
Make it a great day!
