We’re engaged!!!!

It’s still so crazy to me that I get to marry Rick. To be honest, I never thought I would get married until I met Rick. When I met him, all I could think about is marrying him and now I get to. Life is wild.

Most women dream about the day they will get engaged and what it will be like, what it will feel like. What will he say?! How will I react?! And strangely enough, I felt like I was watching it all happen as an out of body experience. That’s the best way that I can describe how it feels. The insane amount of joy, shock and love that radiates through your body when he kneels down on one knee is just indescribable.

So, here’s how Rick proposed…

Rick had football practice the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I was heading up to Pelham, NY which is about a 2 hour drive from Philadelphia. He had told me he was going to drive up Thanksgiving day to spend the holiday with my family. So, in my mind I was not expecting to see him until he got there Thursday.

My sister lives in Pelham, NY, right outside of New York City. It’s a quaint little town with parks and backyards and a lot of families who commute into the city live there. It was my first time seeing my sister’s new house and I was excited to see my niece, nephew and my mom who was flying in from Tampa that Wednesday night.

So, I drove up to her house that Wednesday morning and played with the kids all day. I was wearing minimal makeup and sweatpants as I was expecting a casual day with family. My mom’s flight landed at 6pm so she called my sister and told her to have me get ready to go out to dinner and get drinks. Begrudgingly, I put on some jeans and a chunky sweater. My mom got to the house and we opened some wine and my family decided that we should have cocktail hour on the back porch.

We walked down the basement steps of her house which lead out to the yard and out to the back porch. I was the last one to walk out of the door into the yard.

There was Rick!

He was in a sport coat standing under a large tree with lights strung and rose petals on the ground.

I saw camera lights flashing at me and I was so confused that I asked, “Are you proposing?!”

He said, “Come over here!” so I slowlyyyy made my way over to him. No shoes in the cold grass. But I felt like I was floating.

I was in COMPLETE shock. Both of our hands were shaking non stop and my heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest! I really thought I would cry, because I cry at everything, but nope I was just in pure shock and so overwhelmed in the best way possible.

He got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. It was truly the best day of my life.

My family apparently was sneaking around behind my back all day coordinating with Rick and I had NO idea!

The ring is perfect. He is perfect. I can’t wait to marry him on March 6th, 2021.

And that’s pretty much it!!!

Much love and make it a great day!!

XO, JB
